Introduction to the IELTS Test

(International English Language Testing System)

First of all, if you want to achieve your goals you may need to get a good score in IELTS. If English is not your first language and you want to study or work in an English speaking environment, you will probably need to take a Test.

Secondly, there are two versions of the test: Academic and General Training. If you want to study you may need to take the Academic version because the testĀ is accepted by more than 9,000 educational institutions around the world. For other purposes, for example work or migration, you will probably need to take the General Training version. So, make sure you know which version you need to take.

Thirdly, the test includes 4 sections: Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening. The Speaking and Listening tests are the same for both the Academic and General Training versions. However, the Writing and Reading testsĀ are different.

Finally, you can access sample tests to help you prepare.
